A Juried Art Exhibition for Artists with Vision Loss

All information requested must be completed or the application will not be considered. Please read the instructions below before submitting artwork.
Please note that the jury will see the electronic files of artwork, along with the artists’ artistic statements. Their decisions to include artwork in the exhibit will be based solely on these items.
Each piece of artwork entered must include an electronic file that accurately represents the creative work. If you are sending images directly from a digital camera or your smart phone, please send them at “Original Size.” Otherwise, PLEASE SET RESOLUTION OF IMAGES AT 300 DPI or higher. Please DO NOT send images as HEIC files. This is a file type that iPhones use to save space.

Please send an email without attachments first to notify me that you are submitting via email. Sometimes emails with larger attachments (higher than 10 MG) do not go through, so if I am aware you are sending me a file, I can notify you if the file does not come through. I will confirm receipt of all applications.
ACTUAL PIECES OF ART ARE NOT ACCEPTED DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
All work must be original and created by an artist who is legally blind. Pieces displayed in previous Passionate Focus art exhibits will not be accepted.
Artists may submit up to 6 pieces. There is a $30.00 non-refundable submission fee for all artists no matter how many pieces are submitted. This fee helps to cover costs associated with replacing glass and frames broken during shipment and other expenses.

A jury, comprised of artists, curators and art educators, has sole responsibility for selecting the pieces which will be included in the exhibit.
If selected, artists must provide the work submitted for selection. Substitutions will not be accepted.
Artists are responsible for costs of transporting their work to Second Sense prior to the exhibit. Second Sense will pay for return shipment of any unsold work via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground, any costs incurred by other shipping methods are the responsibility of the artist.
The Exhibit will be on display during the opening reception at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
The Exhibit will then be on display at a second location, for the month of June. All unsold artwork will be returned to the artists by the end of July 2023.
Second Sense reserves the right to reproduce accepted artwork in announcements, programs, websites, note cards and other communications that report on or promote the event. Submission to this competition signifies acceptance of all conditions stated.
