Using Gmail in Standard View

Thursday, February 8 - 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

If you are accustomed to using Gmail in the basic html format, you may know that Google is discontinuing this option in their Gmail desktop web and mobile web interface. Beginning in February 2024, you will automatically be transitioned to the Standard View when using Gmail. The standard view has better security and more features you may want to use.

Richard Staurder, our assitive technology instructor, is ready to help you make this transition.  He shows you how to use two ways to interact with Gmail in Standard View:  with shortcuts built into Gmail’s web application and as a webpage using screen reader keyboard commands. You’ll also learn about other online resources to help you going forward. Using these methods, you will learn how to:

  • open Gmail
  • set up keyboard shortcuts
  • browse the in-box
  • read emails
  • compose and reply to emails
  • attach a file to a message
  • search for messages
  • organize emails with Labels

This workshop is in-person only. For questions, call 312-236-8569 or email email Richard Stauder.
