Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Meet Blind Institute of Technology

Thursday, November 14 - 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

It can happen. You are gainfully employed in a career you love, but with diminishing vision, you can no longer perform your job duties. That doesn’t mean your employment days are over. Sometimes, it is just a matter of thinking outside of the box about the knowledge you have acquired and how it can be transferred to a new career. Even if you have never had a full-time career, your professionalism, education, and your go-getter attitude can be the necessary attributes that can lead to meaningful employment.

The Blind Institute of Technology (BIT) supports professionals with vision loss who are seeking professional training and education in the tech sector and those looking to advance their careers through accessible and inclusive opportunities.

We are excited to welcome Mike Hess, founder and executive director of the Blind Institute of Technology, to share how BIT’s programs can support you on your journey to meaningful employment.

Mike will discuss:

  • mission and history of BIT
  • BIT’s nationally recognized apprenticeship program

BIT Academy‘s training and certifications program in Salesforce and digital accessibility
