Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Legal Assistance for Seniors and People with Disabilities

Thursday, September 14 - 10:00 am - 11:00 am

When a complicated issue arises in your life, like a landlord dispute or medical bill sent to collections, getting the problem resolved sometimes requires the services of an attorney. Attorneys are expensive, and if paying out of pocket for one is beyond your means, the Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) may be able to help.

The Center for Disability and Elder Law provides free legal services for low income seniors and people with disabilities who live in Cook County. CDEL works hard to better understand and respond to the needs of their clients. They position themselves to combat systemic oppression experienced by their clients.

We welcome Carmel Companiott, AmeriCorps Vista Community Outreach Coordinator with CDEL, to explain how CDEL works and the types of legal services they provide.

You will learn:

  • Who qualifies for free legal services from CDEL
  • How to request legal services from CDEL
  • What types of legal cases CDEL can take on
