Identity Fraud and Your Credit Report

Thursday, February 24 - 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Your credit report is an important piece of your personal identity. Many activities like renting a home, applying for a credit card, opening a checking account or getting utilities turned on, will require a credit check to determine your credit worthiness.

Since this is an extremely sensitive piece of information about you, monitoring your credit report is very important. Not only can you find mistakes that should be corrected, it is also a way to spot possible identity theft.

Join us as we welcome Sam Gwinn, outreach coordinator at Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC). Sam shares the essential information you need to protect your financial identity including:

  • How to obtain and review your credit report
  • How to identify fraudulent activity on your report
  • What are the differences between credit alert, lock and freeze
  • Why it is important to freeze your credit.
