Take control of your financial future, one-step at a time with our new financial literacy series!
Managing your finances and doing it well, is not an easy process. There’s a lot to learn and understand. Having a visual impairment can complicate the process as tools and information are not always accessible.
We are excited to welcome Rachel Christian, certified educator in personal finance and founder of Unseen Wealth, for this new eight part series on managing your money. You can learn about budgeting, debt management, savings, credit scores and more. You’ll receive resources and tips with plenty of time to ask questions. This is your chance to discover the tools and resources to get your money on track and create a solid financial plan for the future.
Attend one or all of our Financial Literacy sessions. All meetings take place on Zoom.
Big financial goals can feel overwhelming, but breaking them into smaller steps makes them achievable. In this session, you’ll learn how to set realistic, short- and long-term financial goals, create a plan to reach them, and track your progress.
Budgeting is the foundation of financial stability, and finding a system that works for you is key. This session will explore budgeting tools and strategies for people with vision loss. You’ll learn tips for tracking your spending, managing bills, and building a plan that fits your life.
Saving money doesn’t have to be stressful. Learn simple, effective strategies like “paying yourself first,” automating your savings, and using high-yield accounts to grow your emergency rainy day fund with less effort.
Debt can hold us back from our financial goals. This session will help you create a debt payoff plan, understand how to build and repair credit, and access resources like credit counseling to stay on track.
Navigating work while receiving SSI or SSDI benefits can be confusing, to say the least. Learn how employment affects your benefits, understand Medicaid eligibility, and report earnings to avoid surprises down the road.
ABLE accounts offer a powerful tax-advantaged way for people with disabilities to save and invest while protecting your benefits. In this session, you’ll learn how these accounts work, who qualifies, and how to open your own.
Investing isn’t just for the wealthy, it’s for anyone who wants to grow their money over time. This session covers key investing terms, different types of investments (stocks, bonds and more), diversification strategies, and the types of accounts available.
This session covers both the everyday skills and financial resources that can make managing money easier. Learn ways to save with discounts on accessibility tools and programs designed for people with vision impairments. We’ll also cover practical tips for handling cash, using bill readers, and navigating store transactions with confidence.
