Wednesday, April 15 - 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
We are excited to announce that we have partnered with the U.S. Census to support the 2020 Census. As a partner, we are working to ensure the blind and visually impaired community is accurately represented.
Every 10 years, our Constitution requires that we count everyone. During March, you’ll be receiving an invitation from the Census Bureau asking for information about everyone living in your household. It is imperative, especially for our community, that someone in your household be responsible for responding to the Census. Programs that we rely on are at risk if our community is undercounted. Programs like healthcare, accessible transportation, food subsidies and even the funding for vision rehabilitation services you receive from Second Sense.
Between March 12 and 20, you will receive a letter in the mail in a black and white envelope from the Census. You can respond to the nine questions in three ways:
Because some of these response methods may be difficult for many people with vision loss, Second Sense will be offering assistance for filling out your questionnaire online on April 2 and 15.
If you would like help completing your Census response, come to Second Sense on April 2 between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm or April 15 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please bring in your Census letter with the 10 digit number. Our volunteers will help you respond online.
