Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Blind Piano Lessons

Thursday, June 16 - 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Learning to play the piano with vision loss is possible, even if you can’t see a music score! Mark Miller of Blind Piano Lessons has been teaching piano virtually to students with vision loss for 15 years. His students play songs from the Great American Song Book, folk songs, jazz, top 40 hits and many more. Mark’s unique teaching system emphasizes minimal hand movements, chord patterns and ear training.

We are excited to welcome Mark to Second Sense for a virtual demonstration of how his system works and how you can take his piano lessons.

Mark will share:

  • how you can learn to play many songs using simple chord patterns with your left hand
  • how ear training can teach you to play folk song melodies
  • how his system of using braille dots for music notation works
