Have you ever been watching a TV show or attending a film in a movie theatre and you’re constantly asking your companion, “What’s going on?” The dialogue doesn’t always convey everything happening on the screen causing you to miss important parts of the show. Through brief narrated descriptions inserted during pauses in dialogue, audio description explains important visual details such as facial expressions, actions, costumes, and scenery. This feature helps you follow the plot and makes your experience more enjoyable.
Audio-described programming is becoming more prevalent and can be found on streaming services, TV providers, movie theatres, and live theatre venues. To help us sort out all the audio description options, Taurus Smith, CVRT, shares his tips at this new virtual workshop.
