Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

All About Your Yoga Practice

Tuesday, November 15 - 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Yoga has many benefits — almost too many to name. It can help you reduce stress, increase flexibility, build strength and improve balance. Yoga can be a way for you to take time for yourself and focus on the present. Relieving you from all the distractions of daily life, even if it is only for a few minutes at a time.

If you have never attended a yoga practice, you may feel a little intimidated not knowing exactly what to expect. To relieve some of your uneasiness, we welcome Aly Slaughter, experienced yoga instructor, who also has vision loss. Aly will share the basics of a yoga practice and provide advice on how you can get the most from your practice. There will be some time for questions and a short relaxation practice at the end of our workshop.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • the different styles of yoga
  • the sequences or components of a yoga class
  • the importance of breathing in your yoga practice
  • the types of props you may want for a yoga practice

To join us for this stress free workshop, call our conference line, 312-809-1004. For questions, email Kathy Austin.
