Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Yvonne Shortt

Yvonne Shortt is a public installation/sculpture artist focused on investigating disability, equality, and race. Her mediums include wood, clay, and metal.

This piece is based on Yvonne’s new work People Like Me. In this work Yvonne talks with people who have a disability and then creates a piece based on that conversation.

The finished public art sculpture will be in the Elmhurst Sculpture Garden in Queens, NY and include a large display case with 12 heads cast in cement in an open draw.

When Yvonne is not at her studio she can be found thinking up new artwork in gardens and parks in her community.

“Art should be for all to enjoy and this is why most of my work exists in the public realm.”
