Art has always played an important role in my life. Losing my vision may have changed the way I create, or the means of accomplishing my goal, but it has not changed my desire to create and capture beauty.
Some of my favorite forms of art include embroidery, particularly cross stitch. People often ask me how I am able to do this with limited vision, but as they say, when there’s a will, there’s a way. I have learned to adapt by using the needle to feel the holes in the fabric so that I do not have to see much at all. I have gone on to use this technique to produce award winning pieces that no one knows had to be done differently.
I enjoy photography because it preserves a memory in a way your mind might forget. My favorite flower is always in bloom if I capture it at its peak. The best part of photography for me is being able to bring the images home, put them on my computer, and zoom in on all the things I missed the first time!
