Leticia de Guzman

“I am a native of the Philippines and migrated to the United States in 1968. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and practiced my profession at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

“I was born with poor vision and medical doctor in my country was able to diagnose it. My eye condition was finally diagnosed as dry macular degeneration in 1971 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I became legally blind in the mid 1980s and eventually lost my color vision, too,

“I joined the art class at the Lighthouse pf SW Florida and discovered the joy of painting. I had no experience or training. My color ID app on my smart phone helps me identify colors for my paintings. I paint by imagination or images copied from reality.”
