Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Carol Sue Henry

Carol Sue was born in Illinois.  She had cataracts at birth.  As a young child and into college, she had multiple surgeries to resolve vision issues.  At certain points in this process her legal blindness found her in darkness and other times she could read and study.  She attended a school for the blind, graduated college and had a successful career for 28 years.

Later in life she was diagnosed with glaucoma.  She has not let that stop her creative abilities.  She participates in the art program at the Lighthouse of Southwest Florida.  Carol Sue enjoys painting with acrylics and says painting in general helps her learn and has strengthened her ability to focus her eyesight.  She also enjoys crafts, music, playing several musical instruments and singing.
