Barbara has a M.Ed and has worked as a disability rights activist since 1976. She received one year of artistic training in Vienna, Austria. She is a visually impaired photographer and painter, as well as a mixed media artist.
“My approach to art is to ‘focus on the light,’ and the color within the frame, whether a photo, painting or a 3D mixed media art object.
I have owned a gallery devoted to artists who are underserved, disabled and/or unable to access mainstream art platforms. For 4½ years, Mount Baker Neighborhood Center for the Arts had monthly themed exhibitions and an annual exhibition titled Please Touch, which had over 1300 visitors in 2018 at Seattle Center, Washington.”
