Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Annie Hesse

Annie Hesse’s intention is to show the viewer not only what she sees, but how she sees it. The camera’s lens enables her to freeze time and focus on the details that she would not ordinarily see or which are otherwise invisible. In other cases, she is inspired by the play of light and shadows.

Her early work shows a preference for Black and White and experimental film stock documenting her cultural milieu.

Her more recent work is informed by color, shape, contrast and texture found in nature and fabricated structures sometimes enabling the images to be transformed into another dimension.
