Thomas McCue’s art practice currently focused on painting and drawing, using an intuitive, expressive, and gestural mark-making process to generate intensely colored and suggestive abstract images. In 2000, Thomas experienced profound vision loss due to a hereditary neurological disease, reducing his eyesight from 20/20 to legal blindness or “low vision”. Following years of adaptation and working as a professional experience designer, Thomas has returned to his art practice, and for the past four years focused on art-making and seeking exhibition opportunities.
His work has been exhibited in juried shows such as the 80th Wabash Valley Exhibition at the Swope Art Museum and Passionate Focus at Second Sense, where he received the 2024 Juror’s Choice Award.Thomas holds a Master’s in Design from the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology and a BFA in Painting, Printmaking, and Art History from Auburn University.
