Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Working and Your Social Security Benefits

Tuesday, January 9 - 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Do you feel uneasy about going to work because you may lose your Social Security benefits? This is not always the case. Work incentive programs are available where you can keep some of your benefits while employed. By going to work, you can make a successful transition and have greater financial independence.

Jocelyn Romasanta, community partner work incentive counselor with the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, joins us to help us better understand these work incentives. You will learn how employment affects your SSI or SSDI, Medicare or Medicaid and other state benefits.

This presentation will answer these common questions:

  • What are work incentives?
  • What happens to your SSDI and Medicare if you work?
  • Will you lose your SSI and Medicaid if you work?
  • What happens if you stop working?
  • How can a MOPD’s Benefits Counselor help me?

To join us for this informative presentation, call our conference line at 312-809-1004. For questions, email Kathy Austin.
