Volunteering: What’s in It for Me?

Everyone knows that volunteering can have a tremendous impact for a person in need, an organization or a community, but did you know that people who volunteer are happier, have better physical health and live longer? Volunteering is a win-win proposition for both the recipient and the giver.

At our Volunteering: What’s in It for Me workshop, we’ll discuss all the benefits volunteering has to offer, ways volunteering can build your self-confidence and self-esteem and tips on how to take those first steps for a successful volunteer experience.

Our discussion will cover how volunteering can help you:

  • explore career paths,
  • build your connections for employment,
  • practice workplace skills,
  • build on your present skills and learn new ones,
  • build a support network, and
  • overcome your fears of trying something new.
