10:15-11:15 The Impact of Aging
Presented by Anita Katz LCSW and Polly Abbott CVRT
Does society fear or venerate older people? What messages are your group members getting from society that could be barriers to their adjustment to vision loss?
We will explore what your group members might be feeling and experiencing as they age and discuss the impact this has on their interactions with today’s society, their adjustment to vision loss, and group dynamics.
11:15-11:30 Short break
11:30-12:30 Response and Responsibility
What strategies can you use to create a safe and healthy emotional space for your group members? Awareness of current needs can help you plan for the future. Reflect on how you — in the role of “facilitator”–are having an impact on group dynamics.

1:30- 3:00 The Secret to Finding the Answers: Resources for You
Presented by Doug Anzlovar CVRT and Polly Abbott CVRT
Every group facilitator hears comments and questions from their group members such as “I can’t do anything I used to enjoy”, “I went to the eye doctor and I still can’t see”, “Do magnifiers come any stronger and where can I get one?” and many others. Learn where to find the answers to their questions and create new programming for your group. We will share our secrets with you!
