9:30 am: Introductions

Inspiration and Revitalization
Participate in an open group discussion. Tell us about your group and get support and suggestions from your fellow group leaders. Face your challenges with leaders who know just what you are talking about. Share your successes and find solutions!

We will learn from group leaders who have implemented new strategies to address challenges such as lack of communication among group members, stale meetings and dwindling numbers.

When the Helper Needs Help: Soothing the Hidden Psychological Stress in Those Living with People Adjusting to Vision Loss

Individuals with vision loss often experience depression as they try to cope with the changes in their lives. Depression also has an affect on spouses, friends and family. We’ll discuss the emotional impact on those close relationships, learn to recognize the signs of depression and gain practical skills for providing support for all involved.

1:30pm: Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired

10 years ago, the first Vision Exchange conference was held at Hadley. Hadley has changed a lot since then! Now, Hadley offers more learning opportunities for adjusting to vision loss. We’ll tour the newly renovated facility and learn about the new programs and services available to your group members and their families.

CEU INFORMATION

Prairie State College is an approved provider of Continuing Education Units (CEU) for Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Advanced Practical Nurses by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Participation in the entire Vision Exchange conference offers 4.0 CEU from IDFPR.

To register for CEUs, please complete the Prairie State College CEU registration form and submit with payment by May 31, 2019.
