Violet Potocki, OTR/L, CDRS, is a registered and licensed occupational therapist, certified driver rehabilitation specialist, and clinical specialist at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois. She has been an occupational therapist since 2002. She has worked in the driver rehabilitation field since 2006. She currently serves as the vice president for the Midwest Chapter of ADED (Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists). She is also a clinical specialist in the areas of neurological rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, low vision, and vision rehabilitation.
Violet has provided and served as a guest speaker on topics concerning low vision and driving safety and driving rehabilitation for various support and community groups, medical grand rounds, in-house and local rehabilitation programs, and school systems, among others. She was also a guest speaker for the Illinois Secretary of State Medical Review Unit, and presented on the topic of what differentiates a standard driving evaluation from a comprehensive, medically based driving evaluation.
Polly Abbott, CVRT, is the Director of Rehabilitation Services at Second Sense. She oversees all of the service programs. She has been a Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist for over 15 years and also has her qualification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. In addition to teaching daily living skills, Polly has recently become a certified coach and has added 1 Touch ™ Self-Defense classes to the services available to clients at Second Sense.
She received the Excellence in Rehabilitation Award in 2010 from the Illinois chapter of AER (Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired) and the Elizabeth Lennon Meritorious Achievement Award in 2016 from AER Vision Rehabilitation Therapy Division.
