Ride sharing apps have helped tremendously in getting people with vision loss to destinations not always accessible by public transit. The convenience of calling for a ride, on your terms, when you need it, provides a level of independence our community has never had before. But it comes with these annoying, frustrating and sometimes scary situations.
Taurus Smith, our certified vision rehabilitation therapist at Second Sense, is a daily user of Uber and Lyft. Not only does he use ride sharing apps for visiting clients in their homes, but as a single dad with two children and a guide dog handler, he has developed great strategies for using ride sharing services safely and with less hassle.
