Exercising for Strength and Balance

Are you no longer moving like you used to because of vision loss? Are you feeling a little wobbly or unsure on your feet? When we don’t move, we lose muscle tone and flexibility. This condition can increase the risk of falls and other injuries. To help you begin to feel stronger and more confident on your feet, we invite you to join us for a four-session Strength and Balance exercise course.

Abby Culbertson, B.S., Exercise Science and Nutrition, joins us at Second Sense to teach you basic exercises you can take home to incorporate into your daily routine. Exercises are done with the wall or chair for support and can also be adapted to meet your individual abilities.

You’ll learn how to do:

  • basic stretching exercises,
  • basic movements to increase balance,
  • exercises for core strengthening, and
  • cardio exercises that also help with balance.
