Second Sense - Beyond Vision Loss

Assistive Technology Showcase from Innovative Vision Products

Wednesday, May 15 - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Have you been struggling to read your mail or find the right pantry item in your kitchen cabinet? Want a device that can keep a note and read a book? There are many new electronic assistive devices that can make everyday tasks like these easier! Join us for a special event showcasing products designed to empower people with vision loss!

We are excited to welcome Sloan Morris from Innovative Vision Products demonstrating cutting-edge technology designed to increase your independence and productivity. For 20 years, Sloan has represented the blind and low vision community by showing individuals with vision loss how to incorporate this technology into their daily lives. You’ll benefit from Sloan’s own experience of living with vision loss as he can help you find the tool that works best for you.

Sloan will be demonstrating a wide variety of electronic magnifiers that enlarge text on any surface, devices that scan and read aloud text from books, magazines, and even medication labels. You’ll also have an opportunity to explore stand-alone GPS and book readers.

Sloan is on hand from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. At 10:30 am, he is providing a brief presentation to overview the different products and who they are best suited for. Afterwards, there’s plenty of hands-on time to try these devices out and ask questions.

Here’s what you’ll see at this hands-on event!

  • LyrQ assistive text to speech reader
  • Wide assortment of portable video magnifiers
  • Victor Reader Stream – Gen 3
  • StellarTrek

This is an in-person event! For questions, email email Kathy Austin.
