Advanced Orientation and Mobility: Exploring the Scale of the Environment

Saturday, July 29 - 1:00 pm - 3:45 pm

Have you ever gone to a new environment and had someone describe it to you? Your understanding of this new place may vary as some people are great describers, others, not so much. It can be difficult to understand the grandiosity of a large place like an auditorium, park or ballpark when it’s just being verbally described to you.

What is the concept of scale?

The concept of scale is how we understand, measure, describe and experience an environment. In our third advanced orientation and mobility workshop, our certified orientation and mobility specialists, Mandi Hetzel and Siobhan Midgley, will provide hands-on experience to build and understand the concept of scale with a tour of Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.

This tour provides an opportunity for you to:

  • Tour the seating bowl and bleachers
  • Experience the ivy covered outfield walls
  • Visit the press box, visitor’s clubhouse and dugout
  • Learn about Cubs history

Itinerary:

1:00 pm: Meet at Wrigleyville Dogs, 3737 N. Clark St.

1:45 pm: Walk to Wrigley Field

2:00 pm: Tour of Wrigley Field (75 to 90 minutes).
