was honored with our 2013 Volunteer of the Year award at Second Sense's annual Volunteer Appreciation Party in April. Jim mans our front desk on Wednesday, moves furniture, runs errands and makes everyone who comes to Second Sense feel like part of the family.
Jim logged in over 350 hours this fiscal year and is our"go-to" guy whenever we need help -- he is always so willing to lend a hand. Thanks, Jim for all your hard work!
We welcome you to join Second Sense's Volunteer Team!
Our volunteers play a vital role in Second Sense's ability to provide service to people with vision loss. From helping us spread the word about our services and manning the front desk, to designing our annual reports and updating our computers, there is always some place your talents and skills can be put to good use.
Some ways you can help include:
• Administrative support
• Marketing and communications
• Fund raising
• Special events
• Website development and maintenance
• Internet research
• Computer maintenance
• Braille transcription and embossing
• Audio recording and editing
Volunteers with specialized skills can also help us provide service to our members. If you have experience in vision rehabilitation, career counseling or adaptive technology, you can help us with program development and tutoring.
Second Sense also offers internships for master degree candidates in the fields of counseling, psychology, marketing and communications. These are unpaid internships offering direct contact with clients and great hands-on experience.
Whether it is a short-term project or continuing service, we welcome your help! Please fill out the volunteer application or email Kathy Austin to learn how you can help.
