Living With Vision Loss
"When people lose their sight, they feel cut off. When you sit down and interact with others, sharing stories of failures and triumphs, you feel like you belong again."

Vision loss can be overwhelming. But there are many ways you can continue to do things for yourself.
New Visions
This three-session educational workshop is for people with vision loss who are searching for ways to maintain their lifestyle and are offered in your community. Workshops focus on practical information and useful products that can help make your life safer and less stressful.
We demonstrate techniques and tools that you can begin using right away and provide information on many of the resources and services available to you. A family member or friend is invited to attend along with you. See our list of upcoming workshops or contact Kathy Austin at 312-236-8569 or kathya@guildfortheblind.org for more information.
Next Steps
Our Next Steps workshops offer education and training on specific topics including, Dining with Confidence, home safety, personal grooming and many others. These workshops are offered both at community sites and at Second Sense's office. Braille Instruction
We offer a 16-week introductory class on braille. This class meets one day each week at Second Sense's office. Students learn how to read and write basic braille — so they can quickly jot down phone numbers, read elevator panels or write labels for all the cans in their kitchen cabinets.
