Prinske Video Magnifier Winner 2012
Dolores met Polly Abbott at the Niles Low Vision Fair in 2012. Her vision loss was recent and Dolores was actively seeking out resources, looking for ways to remain active.
What stood out in Dolores application, was her desire to use the video magnifier to help others. She wanted to start up a support group at the Des Plaines Public Library, but knew she would need help with all the paperwork.
Once awarded the magnifer, Dolores got right to work. With some assistance from the staff at the library and from Second Sense staff members Polly Abbott and Lauri Dishman, Dolores launched her support group.
Dolores describes her group as “an opportunity to share information about our eyes, products for improving our daily lives, to hear guest speakers, to have activities and for fellowship.”
