Opening Doors

Adaptive Technology Classes Offered For Teachers

Chicago, February 1st, 2012-- Opening Doors is a new course offered by Second Sense providing training seminars for teachers on modern adaptive technology. Starting in September of 2011, the six seminar course will highlight different adaptive tools and programs useful for students with vision loss.

Each class will focus on one type of adaptive technology, and how that tool can be used to maximize your student’s learning experience Tools covered include JAWS Screen Reader, Zoom Text screen Magnifier, Apple devices, Victor Reader Stream, and digital cameras. These programs and tools open up new possibilities for surfing the web, reading textbooks, and using computers. Teachers will be shown everything they need to know in order to use these resources in their own classrooms, with their own students.

Opening Doors will take place on the last Thursday of the month, and each course is three hours long. The fee for each class is $25, but that fee is waived for Illinois AER members with active ID number presented at registration. To register for one or more of these classes, contact David Flament by phone at 312-236-8569 or by email.
