Passionate Focus 2016
Passionate Focus is Second Sense’s annual event celebrating all that was accomplished over the past year. Our 2016 event was on Thursday, May 12 in the unique Moulin Rouge room at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago.
Friends of Second Sense gather for a vibrant evening of great food, drinks and conversation. The event offers an exciting auction, a wine pull and other fun activities.
The highlight of the evening is the Passionate Focus art exhibit showcasing the work of artists with vision loss. The artwork draws you in, so you focus on the artistic vision, not the artist’s visual impairment. These artists share a passion to express themselves through their art; sharing with the world their reality.
Each year, over 100 pieces are submitted for consideration by a jury of professionals in the art world. The jurors select the works to be included in the exhibit based solely on their artistic merit and are not provided with any information about the artists’ visual impairment.
The event is not only a fantastic evening to celebrate the exhibit; it is a way for Second Sense to further our mission. Guests to the exhibit are amazed at the range of work and the talent of the artists. They walk away with the realization that vision loss does not impede a person from pursuing their dreams—whether they dream to create art, practice the law or simply live independently.
